Easy to learn. Good enough to keep.
The Loco Wing HydroFoil Board was shaped for beginners and improvers who want stability without dragging a bloated lump of deadweight around. The bigger sizes are wide and forgiving on your knees. The compact outline, light carbon construction and tapered nose and tail help the board release cleanly once you start pumping.
Old-school beginner boards were long, wide and chunky. Easy to stand on, dull once moving. This is the more refined answer: enough platform to learn on, less swing weight in turns and a board you will not immediately outgrow.
Choose your size
- 6'3 — 145L: the most stable option for heavier riders, lighter wind and first sessions. Realistic upper rider weight around 115–120kg, depending on ability and conditions.
- 5'11 — 120L: the beginner/improver all-rounder. Joe has ridden it at 110kg. Generous enough to learn, compact enough to progress.
- 5'7 — 105L: a progression board for lighter riders or experienced riders moving down from a big inflatable or wide hardboard.
- 5'3 — 85L: the smallest, liveliest option for lighter adults, teenagers and confident riders.
What it feels like
Light weight gets the board accelerating quickly. Once your feet are in the right place, pressure through the back foot lets you point, pump over the bow wave and release onto foil without wrestling the board. Touchdowns are controlled and the compact outline carves cleanly—your foil choice still matters.

Not the right board if…
You want a narrow mid-length or dedicated downwind board. This is a compact wing board built around ease of use. If you want arm-powered prone foiling, look at the Loco Prone Foil Board; if you want paddle-up downwind performance, choose the dedicated Downwind Foil Board.
